Sylvia Uchi in Paris France, at the Eiffel Tower

To My Rafikis ❤️.

When I began this blog in 2018, my goal was to self discover.

I mentioned this in my first Diary post on my website.

After years and years of growing up in a society that tells you who to be, how to be, and where to be, I needed to hit the reset button.

There was no way I was going into my 30s carrying that negative energy. So I started a blog.

The goal: be authentic in every way.

The only exception? The use of beauty filters every once in a while.

So the journey began. From sharing my trips around the world to my home tour! To even showing up on camera without makeup and at times, without my wig glued down in place. LOL! I mean, it does not get more personal than that!?! Evidently, it was never about being liked, having a huge following, being relatable, or even chasing clout (unlike many Kenyan content creators who have made this their daily goal).

Yes, shocker, I never cared about being relatable. I cared about authenticity, because when you are authentically true to yourself, you attract the same kind of people, then you become relatable to those people.

6 years later, I am immensely proud of the woman I have uncovered. I now know what I stand for and what I don't stand for. I know who belongs and who doesn't. I know where to be and where not to be. I know whose advice to take and whose to filter out. Yet that is not the best part.

The best part is that while I was authentically living my life, many were getting inspired. To this very moment, I get messages from all over the world about how my bold decision to be as I am and share it with the world, has inspired others to be true to themselves as well.

This is my highest accomplishment.

I wouldn't have made it this far or discovered this woman today without you all. All your positive (and negative) feedback has grown me and inspired me to be who I am today. For this, I would like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to you all!

It has been an extraordinary journey, full of unforgettable moments!

As we carry on with this journey, I assure you my Rafikis (this is your new name btw), of more authenticity.

The new name of our tribe, Rafikis,  for my international friends, simply means friends in Swahili which is one of my native languages.

To my Rafikis: YOU inspire me! ❤️✨️🫂
